Project 365: Mary, full of haze

Day three. What to shoot... What to shoot?

The sun is setting, and I'm out of ideas. My car is pointed north on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie, MD, when what to my wandering eyes should appear -- a cemetery. Sunset at a cemetery... What can we do there?

I shot this statue of Mary as the sun set behind her back, hoping to get that hazy, "heavenly" effect. I measured the light on the statue and went Manual to dial it in. I was shooting into the sun, so we know the backlight would have turned the statue into a silhouette on any automatic setting. Can't have that. I did darken it a bit to enhance the mood, however.

I like the warm, golden hue. This is pure sun, no filter.

This is shot for my Project 365, where I try to take at least one photo every day.
