When I started this business seven years ago, I thought I could never find a better job in the world. It looks like I might have been wrong.
I have been offered the opportunity to lead Canon Live Learning for Canon USA.
What I'll be doing
In this role, I will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and measuring all Canon workshops, classes, and other educational or engagement activities throughout the country.
It includes managing the current portfolio of events, as well as developing unique future offerings. My charge is to evolve the program into a true leader in customer experience and education for photography, video, and cinema communities.
For a guy who loves photography training, you can't pass up an opportunity like this. I get to develop educational opportunities with Canon experts in their destination workshops and professional seminars, not to mention the Canon Explorers of Light.
It's the next step as a photo coach
When I started this business in 2010, I realized I had found my true calling. I not only enjoyed teaching photography, I thrived on it. This was my passion in life. In 2014, my focus evolved to Shutterbug Life and the weekly podcast. This was another way to keep teaching and influencing more photographers. Even still, I was always open to opportunities to broaden our influence and invite more creative photographers into our community. I think this opportunity helps me achieve that goal for us.
What happens next?
The podcast and Meetups will continue, as I want to keep shooting, sharing and learning with you. My photo tours will be paused indefinitely. This weekend's photo tours will be the last in DC and my 2-day workshop with Steve will be my last in NYC. I'll announce in the coming months how and if any of them will continue.
For the near future, I look forward to meeting you in our podcasts, Facebook group, and Meetups -- with your Canon cameras, of course. ;-)
